Fashion tips and trends: Spring time in Korea
Hello and welcome to Kfashionism!
Do you guys know me? My name is Ninillie (or Nini for short) and I used to be a writer for Kworldstyle.com. Together with some other fashion-interested people, we have started this all new Korean fashion site, which we named Kfashionism! This is our very first post, and I hope you girls (and guys) will like our site and stay with us for a long time ^__^. There is going to be many fun and interesting things here, so look forward to it and please watch over us as we grow bigger and better!
So, back to topic! This segment is going to be about trends I personally spot on the streets and in the shops of Korea (Yes I live in Korea, no I'm not Korean xD). I hope that it will give you a better sense of the Korean fashion-sense and that it will inspire your own personal style!
Spring is coming up. That means warm weather here in Korea ~ it also means away with the winter clothes and bring out the cute spring clothes! But what is trendy? What should we wear? Here is what I personally spotted in the many, many fashion shops of Seoul and Incheon.
Sweaters
Even though the weather might be nicer here than from where I come (cold Scandinavia), it can still be pretty chilly in the spring time. But don't worry, the trends keep this in mind. Knitted sweaters are THE hit here! A bit chunky is the best!
We've seen a lot of stripes the last couple of years but this year, stripes seems to be dying a bit out - now it's time for fresh colours! The most popular colours are mint, light bright blue, coral, and yellow - yes, yellow. Not mustard or orange - no, yellow. :)
Here are some great examples, all from Plastic Island. Pick your favourite! Spring yellow, minty blue or cute dotted.
Skirts
...are always popular in spring time. This year we're looking at the slightly shorter version (above the knee, but please no mini-skirts), skater shaped with floral or lace for a cute girly look. There are so many cute floral pattern skirts out there right now, I hardly have to look for them.
Here are two good examples of what you should look for this season. The leather-ish skirt is from Stylenanda and the cute floral skirt is from Plastic Island.
Make up
You want your make up to be fresh! BB cream, a bit of creamy blush and lightly coloured lips, a touch of eyeliner or just mascara and you're good to go. Combine it with glittery nails and if you really want to be pretty, add a tiiiny bit of pinkish eyeshadow or maybe even some shimmery eyeshadow.
The Juicy Cocktail polish kits from Etude House is a good basis - it has a variety of bright, pastel colours and pretty much sums up the concept of this year's Spring make up.
TIP!
Invest in a volumizer for your skin! Etude House has a good one. It makes your skin look dewy and fresh ~ you can mix it with BB cream or just use a bit on your cheeks to make you look fresher. Go for one without shimmering effect though.
Shoes
Korean girls might be short, but they don't make a problem out of it. Actually, they use it to their advantage! :) Flats are THE spring item you just MUST have! Go out and find yourself a cute pair of flat shoes - preferably in an Oxford-style or ones with a simple design. These are both from 8Seconds, and I'm getting them myself; They're just too cute!
You can get the floral ballerinas here and the more plain, but still cute, white shoes here.
I hope you find this type of post interesting and maybe even helpful! Please give your opinions in the comment section right below ~
